Proofreading for students

Our proofreading service is designed for students who are confident in their writing skills. It offers the opportunity to enhance a well-written piece of work by providing a thorough review and a fresh perspective.

It is so that the human brain stops seeing simple typing errors. Mistakes such as accidentally transposing letters or homophones with different spellings are easily skimmed over. There is a very valid explanation for it, and that is your brain reads the version that exists in your mind. You put a lot of effort into writing a good piece to convey a specific meaning, so when reading it a second or third time, you already expect the meaning to be there and read right over small mistakes. In other words, your brain will autocorrect typos.

It’s these small mistakes that will get you penalised.

What to expect from our proofreading service

Proofreading and editing are separate functions, and students must understand where those differences lie. Read the differences here to manage your expectations of us proofreading your theses, dissertations, essays, assignments, and other academic writings you produce.

We aim for short turnaround times; however, the extent of your work will determine the hours we spend on it. Our quotes are based on the number of words in the piece, including all headings, headers and footers.

This is the process

  • Quotation gets approved, and payment is made in advance

  • The student sends us the documents in Microsoft Word format via email

  • We mark up all errors (grammar, spelling, syntax, and punctuation) using the track changes function

  • Two versions of the document are sent back to the student: one showing markup and one clean, final version

  • One additional round of checking is included

Communication is your ticket to success if you pay attention and learn to do it effectively.
